May sound stupid but windshield wiper problems?

ok i am very car stupid, normally i get a guy in my family to fix my car but everyone is confused. my windshield wipers stopped working, changed the fuse and still nothing, but it sounds like it wants to go but nothing, and the cleaner will still spray out. i was driving in the rain the other day and all the sudden there was a pop sound and they stopped moving, i really have no clue what to do except maybe change the windshield wiper motor? i drive an 85 dodge Dakota pick up, any help would really be appreciated.|||Your wiper motor burned out.|||It%26#039;s possible the linkage broke between the motor and the wiper arms. It might have come loose or jammed. You probably need to remove the motor from the firewall without disconnecting it electrically. You can then check if the motor runs and if the linkage is broken or jammed.

I don%26#039;t think there was a Dakota in 85. Are you mistaken about the year?|||engine off power on - wipers on - can you hear the motor

if you can it%26#039;s most like a clip ring that hold the linkage together

service panel under wiper arms - do one do all clip rings - there rusted

easy to do 1 to 10 a 3

clip rings auto store take one with for sizing and you just can%26#039;t buy one

so count how many you need - do them one a time if you can - get a photo be for you start|||Check the nuts that hold the wiper arms to the stud from the motor or it could have came off at the motor
